About Fellini's Eight and One Half..?

I finished watching Eight and One Half the other day and I had a few questions for some of you who saw or perhaps studied this film: In the first scene, was Guido's dream a premonition? Did he kill himself during the press interview or was this something less literal like Fellini expressing Guido's turmoil in a visual form? Did Guido finally make his movie in the final scene, or was it just another dream?
