Am I being haunted or what?

Last night i was walking through my basement to get a pop with all the lights turned off ( was too lazy to tun them on) and i heard someone whisper my name in my ear. I live alone. I turned around and I could not see anybody in the dim light. So I went to bed and had dreams about the devil torturing me. Today I am seeing figures out of the corner of my eye but when I look no one is there. My mother used to have premonitions like one about her grandmother dieing if that matters at all. Why is this happening?
