What is wrong with my amp?

My friend gave me an amp it's a mobile authority 180 peak so I figured around 60 rms. I hook it up to one of my alpine 6x9s and I could hear a little music but a loud buzzing out of the speaker. All my wires are fine is there a problem with the amp? I hooked the speaker back up to the head unit and it's fine.
